I knew this day was coming. A storm cloud that loomed ominously on the horizon ever since Kaio was chosen. I wanted to believe that a kind wind would blow it away, but one never came, how unfortunate. We started of the period by talking about corona virus. Here's the summary, it's less infective than the flu, there's been less corona virus deaths in United States, there's been a travel ban to South Korea, Iran, China, and Italy, if you get it you have to be quarantined for three weeks. We don't want schools to get Coronavirus or you'll get your vacations docked. There is no travel ban within United States borders, so D.C. Is still on, and finally kids are less susceptible to the Coronavirus. Unfortunately, I believe it's kids under twelve, RIP.
Kelsey reads her blog, and then it is corrected. There aren't actually 30 mistakes.
Now we are talking about The Taming of The Shrew and gender stereotypes.  It's a Shakespeare comedy so it ends in marriage. People like the daughters in the movie because there rich, what an amazing reason. One of the daughters Katherina is not interested in marriage and is independent but, one of the characters Petruchio says that he will tame her and make her a good wife. Katherina is then forced to marry Petruchio by her father. To break and make her obedient her he starves her, and deprives her of sleep. What a kind individual. There some weird wife obedient competition and they win, how fun, abuse and neglect always works. We are now talking about gender stereotypes again and how Shakespeare enforces gender stereotypes that women can be tamed, and that being and independent (Katherina) women is bad, and being an obedient women (Bianca) is good. We're talking about Ulyses failure to answer the phone correctly, never forget, never forgive. Back to gender stereotypes. His play enforces the patriarchy, where a man controls his daughter, and a husband controls his wife. We talk about patriarchies in the modern age, not going to mention any names *Cough* "Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, South Korea." *Cough*
Okay, so we are doing an essay introduction worksheet, with two new prompts. "Considering the meaning of the novel's title, Inside Out and Back Again. How does this title relate to the universal refugee experience of fleeing and finding home, and in what ways is Ha's experience of a specific example of this universal experience?" and "Choose a scene from the book you read and rewrite the story from a different character's point of view. Make sure you incorporate narrative structures such as characterization, setting, dialogue and conflict."
