New Semester

HW: RJ 1.1 Read for 20-30 min. and record.

We started off class with reading and correcting Lawrence's blog. Most of the blog consisted of pick-up lines, and after reading over his blog, we discovered that neither Ariel or Ms. Nakada were in the blog. We then continued on to the quote of the week, which is, "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" by Mary Oliver. Everyone shared their thoughts on the quote, and it seems that Mary Oliver is saying that you only have one life, and she is asking the reader what we will do to make it special. After the quote of the week, we moved on to the question of the week: What 2020 news are you anxious/excited about? For me, one thing that I'm very anxious about are the fires in Australia. Along with that, the class had a discussion about the problems in Iran. Once we were done with the question of the week, the class listened to the song of the week, "What's Goin' On" by Marvin Gaye. This song is about finding peaceful ways to solve problems in our world. Lastly, Ms. Nakada passed out the Spring semester syllabus to everyone. She read over each unit that we will learn this semester, and talked about a few of the books that we will read.

The bell then rang, and everyone packed up their stuff to go to fourth period. And Ariel.
