We started off the day by correcting Jacob's first blog.  There weren't many spelling or grammar mistakes, but we did tell Jacob that he shouldn't speak badly about himself.  After that, we read a quote by bell hooks, a black feminist whom is still alive today. "To build community requires vigilant awareness of the work we must do to undermine all of the socialization that leads us to behave in ways that perpetuate domination." Then, we were asked the fall question of the week, "What do you think about school?" Many students shared their thoughts, and some of them talked about how important education is for students, but most talked about how the funding for schools isn't well, or that the people who are in charge of schools don't care as much for the students individual learning then they should. When everyone had their thoughts shared on the matter, we moved on to listening to the song of the week, "THINK" by Aretha Franklin.  Everyone shared their ideas on what the song was about.  I think the song is about thinking and doing what you want to do, and not what everyone else in society wants you to do.  Everyone wrote down what they thought the song was about, and we started reader's workshop for about ten minutes.  The bell rang, and we all packed up and left the room for 4th period.
